Mata-Tunnel

The Mata-Tunnel facilitates a transfer of focus using games to grab the player’s attention. It has natural and technological elements to create a feeling of being in a brand new space once they leave the building.

Mata-Tunnel is a semi-open multi-function tunnel which aims at applying Disney’s design principles to create a new outdoor space within our university that addresses current students, faculty and visitors needs while providing a respite from the stresses of college life.

No one wants to stop, but everyone needs a break.

 

 

Without making you stop your daily activities the tunnel can remove you from your thought process for anywhere from 5 minutes to an hour so that you can go back to your work renewed.

And it's not just a beautiful tunnel......

Different games go on in different tunnels and change over time.

 

We want the games to be fun, involve light physical interactions, easy to collaborate with friends and able to interact with people who are just passing by. 

Active Play

​

the player will sign in and be given a Hakuna Avatar. This avatar will guide them through quick successive challenges and keep their score while they play and after they leave. 

​

Passively Play

​

the player can touch the screens to interact with no avatar or score. They can even shift their focus to other people playing through the story and help them accomplish their challenges.

3 HIGHLIGHT POINTS

 

Facial Recognition & Mood Analyzer 

Allows the Mata-Tunnel to interact with the player’s mood during the laughing game

 

Multi-touch Displays 

Creates an interactive display that can have a multitude of people interface with the games.  

 

Tiled Floor 

Interactive light up pads that can sync with pre-programmed melodies and the displays.

FUN FACT: 

Team name Hakuna Matata originated from Disney Movie “Lion KIng”, which means “no worries”.
